A Late Roman gold ring set with a carnelian intaglio. Tyche.

Intaglio: 1.2 x 1.0 cm (0 ¹/₂ x 0 ³/₈ inches)
Roman empire, 2nd century A.D. 
Mounting: UK size S 3/4 ; total weight 5,85 gr
Late roman, 4th century A.D.
 

A rare example of the reuse of a 2nd century intaglio later mounted on a 4th century ring.
Hoop composed of a wavy wire, bordered on either side by a plain and beaded wire. To the head is soldered an oval box-setting made of beaded wires and spherical beads and containing an oval carnelian intaglio: Fortuna Tyche. The deity is facing right, holding the cornucopia in her right hand, and the rudder in her left one. The iconography symbolizes the good fortune and prosperity.
