Possibly ancient cameo remployed in the Renaissance
A finely carved cameo depicting a draped female figure in a contemplative pose. She wears a flowing tunic and mantle, her legs elegantly crossed as she leans against a rocky pillar. Her chin rests pensively upon the palm of her left hand—the characteristic attitude of Polyhymnia, Muse of sacred poetry and eloquence.
The carver skillfully exploited the natural banding of the agate, reserving the warm amber-toned layer for the figure while leaving the cool grey ground as background.
A diagonal break runs through the stone; however, the gem remains solid within its silver mount and fully wearable.
The cameo is mounted in a simple silver bezel with suspension loop, likely dating from the period of carving or shortly thereafter.

Section 9. Import and Export Regulations Regarding Tangible Property
The United Kingdom and most foreign countries regulate the importation and exportation of tangible property. Many countries require a declaration of export for property that is leaving the country. Section 10. General
If any part of the Terms of Use is held unlawful or unenforceable that part shall be struck out and the remaining terms shall remain in effect. We hereby exclude to the fullest extent permitted by law, any rights of third parties.

Notices are deemed delivered on delivery if by hand or the third day after posting, or if delivered by email, immediately upon transmission if transmitted during normal business hours in the country of the recipient, or otherwise on the following business day.
3. The Terms of Use and any non-contractual obligations arising from or in connection with it or its subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims), shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with the law of England and Wales and shall be subject to the non-exclusive courts of England and Wales.
